London Trauma Hub & Phoenix Heroes Collaborations
Posted on 15th February 2019 at 20:00
We have been selected by the London Trauma Hub to help them with their academic research and clinical treatment of combat veterans with PTSD and complex PTSD. This is a milestone for Phoenix Heroes and we are all overwhelmed with the news of being associated with such a fantastic organisation and having the privilege to be taking part in the research studies.
This will allow us to reach out to our veterans of which they will have direct access to some of the best treatment from leading PTSD professionals, get to take part in the walking EMDR treatment and socialise with others that are dealing with similar difficulties. To get to this stage we are so pleased and we could not have done this without the support of everyone that has helped us thus far, we thank you all so much!
Literature review to understand why combat veterans are averse and unable to access the mental-health PTSD treatment provisions made available for them by the government, NHS and MOD.
This research will be undertaken by Lorraine Tindale, one of London Trauma Hub Director’s, with the help of London Trauma Hub, serving military trauma & PTSD specialists, Gary Stockton, combat veterans and the Phoenix Heroes team, patron & ambassadors. This will act as a foundation for a PTSD Treatment research, that will explore the best way to engage combat veterans therapeutically.
EMDR PTSD Treatment
A qualitative EMDR PTSD Treatment research, to find other effective treatments and ways to engage combat veterans therapeutically and physically; through walking EMDR treatment. Due to the treatment resistant nature of complex PTSD and combat veteran symptoms after deployment.
The London Trauma Hub will also run a CIC funded, weekly onsite PTSD EMDR & Trauma treatment clinic for Phoenix Heroes supported combat veterans. This will help them overcome their trauma, complex PTSD & PTSD symptoms.
We are working on the selection process for our veterans, spaces are limited due to the nature of the research and available funding lines however we aim to help those that need quick support, able to take part in outdoor activities and who are willing to stay with us on this journey. The full details will be publicly announced soon and our online sign up form will be added to our site over the coming days. We are ESSEX based and will be focusing on the research and walking EMDR treatment in this area, if funding permits then there could be an opportunity to expand our area of operations.
What To Do Next
Sit tight until we have the administrative task completed and wait for our next announcement. If you think that you or others may need some support, able to participate in outdoor activities and keen to join us then please keep current on what we are doing:
